The Black Sea has always been important in world politics. The Black Sea region has witnessed several bloody wars at various times. The vast blue waters and rough waves are one of the reasons for the Black Sea's name. Due to the strong winds blowing from Russia from the eastern side of the Black Sea, the size of the waves in this sea is vast. The Black Sea appears to be surrounded by land in satellite images, but it is not. The countries bordering the Black Sea make most of their foreign trade through this waterway. About 30 (Thirty) commercial ports have been built in the Black Sea due to their commercial importance.
For the same reason, the sea of Marmara, which connects the Mediterranean Sea, is very important for the foreign trade of the countries bordering this sea. The Sea of Marmara is geographically under Turkish or Turkish control. The Black Sea is connected to the Mediterranean Sea by the Phosphorus and Jordan Straits located north and south in the Sea of Marmara.
In recent times, Ukraine, Russia, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, and Romania are located around the Black Sea respectively. Over time, the names of the coastal countries have changed, but the struggle between them over the Black Sea continues to the present day. But among these countries, Russia and Turkey are the most influential and powerful countries. As a result, there have been several rounds of fighting between the two countries to maintain their exclusive sovereignty over the Black Sea.
Russian and Turkish attempts to assert their influence over the Black Sea date back several centuries. Dozens of wars have so far been fought over the Black Sea between the two countries. The Black Sea is at the heart of the conflict between not only Russo-Turkey but also the littoral countries themselves. Recent Russian military operations in Ukraine's Crimea in 2014 and Georgia's Abkhazia region in 2008 are proof of this. Why is there so much interest in countries like Turkey, Ukraine, and Russia over the sovereignty of the Black Sea? Why do these countries want to maintain their dominance?
